LEGO CONTEST

We are so excited about our 24th annual Lego Contest! We have seen some great one-of-a-kind creations in the past and we can't wait to see what was created this year! With all the cool pieces from the new Lego sets, we are expecting some crazy cool creations! If you've never entered before, don't  stress! It's easy! Make a one-of-a-kind creation and bring it into the store between October 16th and 18th (That's THIS Thursday, Friday, and Saturday!). The Whiz Kids Toy Experts will take a picture of you with your creation and take down some information about it. Come back the next week to see the winners and collect your prize! And remember, at Whiz Kids, everyone's a winner. That means everyone wh
o enters the contest will get a Lego prize! What fun! Hope to see all of San Luis Obispo's master builders soon!

One last insider tip: Did you know that every Saturday we have a free craft project for your kids?

Memorial Day is over which can only mean one thing....SUMMER IS COMING! What does summer mean to you? To me it means sand castles, summer camps, and endless pool parties. The beginning of summer holds so much excitement and anticipation for fun! Mother's and Father's Day

The time has come to celebrate the people who raised us and love us more than any one else ever will. If you think you won't find the perfect gift for your mom and dad at the toy store, think again!

 

Mom's will love our Happiness Project Journal. Or if you are feeling artsy, check out our paint your own porcelain vases, tea sets, or bowls kits! Instead of a bouquet of flowers, surprise her with flowers that will last with our pressed flower art.

 

Stumped on what to get dad? Check out our Star Wars Metal Earth kits. I've heard multiple dad's in the store requesting it already.  If he loved Lego's as a kid, check out our Nanoblocks for more 'mature' fun! If your dad is not the type to sit still and build something, get him an Atomic Popper Gun. He will have so much fun! But make sure you get yourself one too, or you may be under attack with nothing to protect yourself! Look Katelyn's family already has them!

It's been more than 3 years since our last post but we are back at it! We have so many fun and exciting things happening at the toy store. If you haven't been by since Cody joined the toy store family, stop by and meet him.

He is the cutest, most loveable puppy and we have all become CODY CRAZY!

We are also getting ready for a our new summer program. This summer we offering classes for all of your explorers, scientists, artists, and writers taught by our own talented staff! Classes will start June 16th. Sign up for our classes and you will receive your very own Whiz Kids Passport. Earn a stamp for each class you take and fill up your passport to win free toys! Call or stop in for more information.

NEW NEW NEW

I'm writing this post "from the road." I'm still in beaooootiful Rhode Island, a lovely lush and green place. The Toy Convention was amazing. I found and ordered scads of fabulous games and activities for our kids and families. I will be posting more about our great new finds on our facebook page as they arrive, so if you haven't "liked" us, please do.

Just to touch on a few of my favs...

The Spot It Game from our lovely French friends at Blue Orange Games. This is an eye-spy type of game, plays very quickly, and comes in a little round, red tin. Everyone can play this.
Lexigo is a letter tile game where each hexagonal letter tile must touch at least two other tiles and you have to play off the last tile of your opponents word. I really like this game and think you will too.
Anomia is an award-winning card game that plays off the fact that our minds are brimming with all sorts of random information. Each player must pay close attention at all times as it is always your "turn".
Y'all have been asking for marshmallow shooters. You know I don't like guns, but I watched too young boys in the booth shooting at the target, having such fun! so I ordered them :)

'Summer Classes at Whiz Kids!'

It's time to sign up for summer craft classes! Bring your imagination and join Lesa and Dana on Wednesday afternoons at 3:30. We are very excited about our line-up of projects which encourage kids to exercise their creativity and learn new skills using a variety of interesting art materials. Classes begin June 23rd at Whiz Kids!

Remember:

The cost of each class is $7 and is non-refundable.
Please wear play clothes (sometimes we get messy!).
Classes last about 45 minutes.
